Our Story
We began our journey several years ago when we decided that the best way to travel and see the world would be by boat. That decision was the easy part! The next steps included reading everything we could about boating, watching videos of those that had gone before us and taking sailing lessons. Then, the task of buying a boat. Boats are as individual as people so it takes awhile to find one that fits all of your needs. We found our Island Trader 46 in Portland, Maine. We then relocated the boat to Pawley's Island, SC where we worked for several months getting it ready to go. And so, the adventures of Gone Galt begin! Come and join us!

ORIGIN OF THE NAME
We often get asked about the name of our boat. Most people refer to their boat as a "she". However, our boat is definitely a "he". The name, Gone Galt, came from the book Atlas Shrugged. In the book, society has come to a point where creativity and the entrepreneurial spirit are crushed by the government. One of the characters, John Galt, suddenly disappears one day. Then, other top creators and entrepreneurs also begin to mysteriously disappear. Thus, they are said to have "gone Galt". Where did they all go? Well, you'll have to read the 1000 pages of Atlas Shrugged to find out! |
